IMPERFECTIONIST SONG SOCIETY
The Imperfectionist Song Society is a motivating and supportive group of songwriters who meet weekly on Zoom for 5 week sessions. Each week, you’re given a thought-provoking songwriting prompt. You take that and run with it. Then, you have a few days to make an easy demo or voice memo to share with the group. Everyone listens and meets on Zoom the following week to engage and provide meaningful feedback.
Founding Co-Directors Allie Chipkin, Mike Shapiro, & Louis Apollon and now joined by Thu Tran are producing sessions for the ISS.

About the Hosts
Allie, Mike, and Lou met on Three Mile Island, Lake Winnipesaukee, while attending Miles of Music Camp in June of 2021. They took a class at camp together called “Challenge Accepted!” – led by Zachariah and Lauren – where a writing prompt was posted each night and the participants had to mold it into a song to share with the group the following afternoon. The result was a collection of perfectly imperfect songs and a renewed sense of creative energy.
After Island Camp, Allie, Mike, and Lou kept in touch and started jamming together in Prospect Park along with other friends from the MoM community. They played until winter swept in and they could no longer feel their fingertips, at which point, they approached Kristin about piloting a virtual songwriting group (a la Challenge Accepted!), but off the island. Voilà, the Imperfectionist Song Society was born.
