Tuition
ADULTS (Age 15+) – CHOOSE ONE OF THREE PRICE LEVELS:
Full Tuition $1200
Tuition Discount Tier 1 $1050
Tuition Discount Tier 2 $900
YOUTH (9-14) — MILES OF MUSIC SUPPORTS A DISCOUNTED RATE OF $750
Youth are more than welcome. In fact, we encourage parents to bring your young people! But please take note: Miles of Music is not creating a formal “youth” program this year, and youth will not be provided a private work cabin in the same way as adult campers will. (The price is adjusted accordingly). Young people will be encouraged to rove and play, to participate in any classes, private lessons and mentorship opportunities, and perhaps enjoy ad hoc kid-friendly activities that we’ll all take responsibility for making up as we go.
CHILD (4-8)
Normally, we invite children ages 4-8 to attend. This year will be an exception because we don’t believe we’ll have the capacity to provide a safe and consistent child care program on the island. We want the adult campers to be able to focus on the creative work that we’re building this event around, and the needs of children ages 4-8 could make that a challenge.
MERIT & COMMUNITY DISCOUNTS – We offer a discounted rate ranging from $0-600 for campers who apply and are chosen by an anonymous selection committee. This year, we’re offering discounts for musicians of color, for working musicians whose finances have been impacted by the pandemic, and for one or more people who have attended our monthly Art Share gatherings this year.
A NOTE ABOUT OUR TIERED TUITION SYSTEM
At Miles of Music we value accessibility, representation, and diversity of ages, incomes, cultures, abilities and more. For this reason, we use a "tiered tuition system" that allows campers to choose from a range of tuition options. In 2019 -- the last time we held a regular camp event -- that tuition range for adults in double-occupancy cabins was $900-$1200, with kids paying less and adults who wanted a private cabin paying more.
For the 2021 special session of Miles of Music, we will have fewer than half the normal number of spots on the island, but our fixed costs remain virtually unchanged. This means that we should raise tuition across the board to cover the difference. Gratefully, we don't have to do that!! Thanks to a small number of generous donors, we are able to offer regular adult tuition -- in single-occupancy cabins -- for the same tiered tuition pricing that we offered for double-occupancy cabins last year.
If you're offered a spot at camp and you can afford the full suggested tuition of $1200, please consider choosing that option. You may also choose to pay $900 or $1050.
We recognize that even the $900 tuition tier is a stretch for many people, so we have worked hard to raise funds for a generous Merit & Community Discount Program. These much deeper discounts are available by application here.
If you would like to make a direct, tax-deductible donation to Miles of Music Camp to support your fellow campers, you can do so HERE.
Thanks for the many ways you all continue to give to our community – whether with your time, energy, talents, financial resources or all of the above. Good luck in the Lottery and we expect to see you all on the Island one day soon.
APPLICATION DEADLINES
March 29, 2021 - General Lottery and Merit & Community Discounts Lottery Opens
April 12, 2021 - Deadline for all applications (General Lottery, Work/Trade, Merit & Community Discounts).
Late April/Early May - All lottery results announced
Since we’re launching registration for this event much later than usual, If you’re offered a spot at camp, you’ll have a very limited window of time from the date of the offer to confirm your spot and pay the tuition balance owed.
Anyone not offered a spot at camp will be put on a Waiting List. Offers will be extended on a rolling basis. This year, lottery application fees are $10 and are non-refundable. If you’re seeking financial aid and unable to afford the application fee, please email us at milesofmusiccamp@gmail.com.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Just as in prior years, we will use a selection by lottery system. If you apply by the deadline, your name will be put into a hat and then drawn at random. We use two hats — one for “returning campers” and one for “new campers”, because we want a balance of both.
All applicants and applicant groups/families will receive an email by late April/early May letting you know one of two things:
You’ve been accepted into camp, OR
We’ve put your name on a waiting list.
If you’ve been placed on the waiting list, we’ll let you know on a rolling basis if a spot has opened up for you at camp.
The application fee this year is $10 per person and is non-refundable.
THE RESTORATIVE CREATIVITY RETREAT IS SOLD OUT!
STAY TUNED FOR 2022.
